Since last Monday's give away for Modern Log Cabin Quilting was such a big hit, I thought what the heck let's give away a book every Monday in May. I have a bit of stock pile waiting to be reviewed.
Today let's chat about an adorable new book from Jennifer Paganelli called Girl's World: Twenty-One Sewing Projects to Make for Little Girls. If there was ever a book to inspire me to learn my sewing machine once and for all, this might be it. I know, I know I say that about every book and still have to get the manual out to thread a bobbin - but, this time I almost mean it.
The lush colorful photographs by Tim Geaney and impeccable styling that you expect from Chronicle Books really help sell the book. Jennifer's line of fabric (Sis Boom) that all the dresses are sewn in doesn't hurt either. As if I was not smitten enough there is an orange trimmed Teardrop trailer and a dress named Tallulah. It's like this book was written for me.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... I love the new trend to include patterns with sewing books. It makes things sew much easier. Sewing a custom dress for a child is already tricky, taking the grunt work of making a pattern out of the scenario helps a lot.
One of the lovely things about Girl's World is you don't have to sew just dresses, oh no this handy little ribbon tied book has oodles more. There is the Dress-Up chapter for those with master sewing skills. Those of us a little lower on the sewing totem poll might feel more comfortable dipping into the accessories or home chapter. The Chloe Paper Doll Overnight Bag and Happy Birthday Banner look do-able. Heck even if you don't sew at all Girls World has something for you with the Olivia Floral Lampshade and Girls Ambassador of Goodwill Badges.
Can you hardly wait to add Girl's World to your craft library? You might not have to wait much longer. Leave me a comment and in one week I will choose not one, but two lucky winners! Love to hear something about if you have a little girl you can't wait to sew for. Are you addicted to Sis Boom Fabrics? Thinking of decorating your boudoir with a Gigi Ruffled Pillow?
