Spring Break Fun with the Kiddlets - Coffee Shop

I'll be the first to admit that I am notorious for saying I am going to do a series of something (like say handmade stocking stuffers) and not following through. What can I say crafters are flakey by nature. You of all people should understand that. However, I am not going to let that stop me. Here I am today telling you that I am going to offer something fun to do with your kiddlet everyday they are home for spring break. The plan is to add something daily, but don't hate me if I regress to my old ways and only get this post up.


Last summer Tallulah opened her own coffee shop on the back porch. For several weeks we saved our coffee grounds and allowed them to dry out. If you start saving today, by Sunday you should have a nice pile to play with. If you want instant gratification go buy a cheap can of coffee.

We put all the grounds in a shallow box and let Tallulah scoop, sniff (note grounds on face) and pour into the coffee into cups. I believe eventually, like everything a toddler does, water and stirring was involved.


Another example of those good intentions I was talking about earlier - last summer I was working on a letter a week with Tallulah. We did this activity for C week. Get it? C is for Coffee. I let Tallulah paint glue all over a sheet of paper and sprinkle coffee on top. I have a note book with several of the activities we did and I put this one in a plastic sleeve to prevent a mess. Oh and for those keeping score, we only made it to about the letter H before I flaked out yet again. However, summer is coming and I plan to pick up right where I left off.


As with most activities Baxter was right there watching, laughing and getting coffee grounds flung on him. This spring break when I set up some new and exciting activities I will have to think of not only toddler ideas, but baby ones too. Baxter is no longer in a bouncy chair and would eat those coffee grounds before you could bat an eye. Got any fun baby ideas? I'd love to hear.
