New Years Resolutions Are Like Bellybuttons, Everybody Has One. I'm no different. I was glancing back over my resolutions from last year and sadly I failed miserable on all but one. I didn't blog more, maybe even less. I didn't lose that 10 lbs, I think I gained a matching set of 10 more. I did eat lot's of veggies, but after moving in the summer I became and take-out junkie. I didn't run a marathon. I got sick for the one race I signed up for and kind of quit running all together. The one thing I did do was take a class almost every month. Sometimes like in December more than one a month. If I make a long list of goals, it's easier to find one to finish.
This year I'm going to share a resolution a week. See spreading the blog love over several posts already helps me with last years resolution of blogging more. Today I'm gonna talk classes. Last year my goal was to take a different craft class each month, but it actually turned into classes in general. I loved this resolution and had so many of my girlfriends join in the fun with me. The problem is taking classes is expensive. Coming soon a post about another resolution, spend less.
Last year I tried new things ranging from stand up paddle boarding and pole dancing class to painting and cross fit. It dawned on me that not only do I love trying new things, but I also love hanging out with my friends. Seems like I could easily do both and spend less money at the same time.
My resolution is to keep on trying new things and to to keep on hanging out with my friends while I do them. However, maybe I will just host more small crafty get togethers at my house. I have lot's of friends with skills I don't know from yogis to knitters. Maybe we could all learn from each other. I also have TONS of craft books just sitting on my shelves never getting cracked, a pin board bubbling over with crafty pins and You Tube at my fingertips. If I want to perfect my breast stroke or finally crochet that granny square blanket for my son knowledge is just a mouse click away.
I'm taking new skill suggestions, lemme hear them. I'm also hoping to revisit some old crafty friends that I have not done in awhile. Thoughts include: Project Life - I already scrapbook, just try a new way. Embroidery - I miss my needle and floss. Watercolor - more painting and drawing in general. Maybe even follow some doodle a day prompts. Sewing - like really learning how and keeping my machine handy. God I hate ironing, have I mentioned that. Stamp carving & embossing powder - might need a class on one of these. So many crafts, so little time. I'll keep you posted on how I do.
