Going Banksy on the Forest

Remember when Kenny Rogers had a line of restaurants called Kenny Rogers Roasters? Their tag line was "it's the wood that makes it good". This catchy saying apparently is not only applicable to fast food meat, but also to art. Bright colors in geometric patterns like stripes, triangles and diamonds somehow look so much better when they are painted on found twigs and firewood. Don't just take my word for it, read on I have visual proof.

If I had these painted hand split firewood by Neon Lumberjack in the fireplace and a yarn bombed deer head by Elaine Bradford on the mantle I would be a very happy camper.

I have never wanted to pick up sticks in my yard so badly as when I saw these hand painted gems by Ginette Lapalme. They would go perfect hanging in the same nursery as tomorrow's craft project. It's a surprise, you will have to come back to see!

I love the painted sticks and logs, but let us not forget round cross sections. Focus Line Art has a whole line of them to choose from.

For the most part I think key holders are pretty useless. However, this one I found on Pinterest is so dang cute I might actually be inspired to use it.

All I need are more toys that I have tell my kids they can't play with like these painted wood blocks by Serena Mitnik-Miller.

Feeling the painted wood love? I know, I know - I'm ready to race out and go all Banksy on a forest.

who knew sticks, firewood and wood slices could be so cool. I usually enjoy them in natural state but these have my bitty brain buzzing. I really like the key hanger, but alas we have one that our daughter made in 2nd grade(she's now 16, yikes!) & it can NEVER be replaced.
It was made with a wooden ruler and wooden craft spoons which she painted to look like each family member, then brass hooks.
Thanks for sharing.

Donna the key hanger sounds pretty awesome. I like the spoons painted to be a family member idea, might have to try it with the kids myself someday.

I love the colors in some of these! My sister and I routinely grab driftwood when we're vacationing near a beach and paint it. Usually we leave a masterpiece or two behind at the cottage or hotel we stayed at. The spirals of branch driftwood work well as coat hangers when planted. :)

Thanks for the post!
