Trendy is As Trendy Does: Carve Your Initials in the Sweetheart Tree

Recently I got to thinking that this will be the 11th Valentines Day I have spent with my husband and we have never carved our initials into a tree. Maybe because it feels kinda like nature graffiti and we are just too square to take a knife to a tree. Either way for whatever reason this Valentines Day I am kind of obsessed with the whole look. Chris if you are reading this don't try to surprise me and use one of our good kitchen knives, stick with something on this list. The Tree Stump Ring in particular could ensure 11 more Valentines together.

Have you ever carved your initials into a tree? I have never even written mine in wet cement. I need to add it to the ever growing list of things to do before I die.

I really like the planter and the pillow. They are all cute!

Thanks for stopping by my Blog and commenting. I really, really appreciate it.

I posted your link on my Blog...once I finally figured out how to do it!

Isn't that planter clever, it is actually a box to hold cards at a wedding. Apparently the gal who makes it lives down the road from me in a nearby town. I heart the pillow too. Working on my own valentine tree pillow as we speak, turning out with mixed results thus far.

I LOVE that card box. I'm getting married in Sept. and that would be perfect! Also, that pillow is too cute. Great post!

Liz, it will be my how-to project on the blog. Right now everyone needs to keep their fingers crossed really tight that things improve because currently it is looking pretty sad.

What great pic! I love it all. I have never carved in a tree before, but I have on a wall at a pizza place (everyone else was doing it!). I love the necklaces. How cute!

How sweet these all are! I bought a piece of cloth awhile back that has a tree bark pattern. I'm using it to make a mask for my husband but there might be enough for a sweet little pillow or somesuch.

Thanks for additions Amy and Stephanie (I j'dore that necklace by the way).

Loonstruck my friend Noelle loaned me some of that fabric to use on my pillow I mentioned earlier but I just decided to make my own with dye and fabric markers.

Sunday Afternoon Housewife - now that you mention it my husband and I did do that at a bowling alley. It is a very funny/cringy story actually. We saw the wall where everyone had signed and thought we too should join in. We stood, carved and everyone was looking at us with horror. As we stepped away we realized it was a memorial plaque from years earlier to a regular bowler who had died of cancer. We had not realized it and thought it was one of those everyone signs this wall type thing. It was like the record screeched off and everyone was glaring and we backed slowly away. We didn't even end up bowling we were so mortified.

No, I have never carved initials into a tree - but my G-man painted our initials on the walls of our new house just before we moved in and 6 months later, it still makes my heart melt.
