I wanted to follow up on Thursday’s I Love to Create post with a few pictures from the Heads and Holgas art show. The necklace I made was a big hit. So much so I gave it to my sister Hope as an early birthday present, seeing as how it was pictures of her art it only seemed fair.
This weekend after the art show I found myself on Etsy looking for new art prints and noticed a trend, somewhere along the way the idea of animal soldiers has crept into the world of art. Josef Stalin toyed with the idea back when he employed Ilya Ivanov to look into cross breeding a man and an ape for a super warrior. We all remember Charlton Hesston in his loin cloth running from guerilla soldiers in Planet of the Apes. Today I am seeing not only artist renditions of apes joining the military but also tigers and deer!

Birds in Helmets by Poor Dog Farm
Can you think of any animals in the army prints that I am missing? Have you noticed this trend or is it just me? What do you think about it, would you hang one in your house?

I love the bird with the helmet, heading there now to check the others. Thanks for the very interesting roundup!
Tarleton Blackwell has used this as a theme in his paintings for years.
I love this animal series and would hang any/all on my wall!
