Saturday was such a dreamy day for me. First Chris and I went to the second half of our childbirth class which included a tour of the hospital, diapering dolls and faux labor. After class Chris and I decided to treat ourselves to Indian food and hit
Madras Pavilion, which we have officially decided is our least favorite Indian restaurant in Austin. Needless to say I managed to make more than one trip to the buffet and choke it down, at 33 weeks everything is edible. Ok onto the dreamy part…. On our way home Chris decided we should have ice cream and cobbler for dinner and I agreed completely so we stopped and picked some up. Once we arrived home with our bellies full of Indian, our minds full of baby info and our arms full of frozen pie we realized a package had come in the mail. Chris had ordered a copy of the movie
Paternity off of Amazon. You all know what big
Burt Reynolds fans we are around here so this was pretty exciting stuff for us. I had been begging Chris to find the movie since I got knocked up in June. It's never been released on DVD so it's not like I could add it to my Netflix que. The funny thing is my friends Nicole from
Queen Puff Puff and Vince from
Vinyl Frontier had sent me an amazing journal back in August that they made from the laser disc cover to
Paternity. They didn’t even know I was in the family way just that I loved Burt. They must be psychic! So it was a sign that I must see the movie since I had not seen it since I was a kid. Chris and I immediately got into bed at about 6pm to watch the movie, the only VCR left in the house is in our bedroom. We cuddled up and watched Burt Reynolds and Beverly D’Angelo make a family. Here is the summary and a picture of my amazing journal....
Despite his inability to commit to a romantic relationship, child-loving Madison Square Garden manager Buddy Evans is determined to become a father. After rejecting a string of surrogate mothers and ex-girlfriends, Buddy settles upon a pretty waitress with dreams of studying music in Paris and soon finds himself falling for her.
Anyway it was not Oscar worthy or anything, but we thoroughly enjoyed the flick and I highly recommend it. We decided to stay in bed and made our pie and flipped channels for the rest of the night. Can an evening really get any better than snuggling in bed with your husband eating pie and watching Burt Reynolds movies? I think not.
Oh, sweetie, enjoy it! I had an evening like that with my guy around 33 weeks, watching Shirley Temple on our VCR in the bedroom and stuffing ourselves with pizza...
ReplyDeleteNine weeks later it's 3 o'clock in the morning and I'm sitting in bed weeping hysterically over our two-day-old and threatening to DIVORCE him if he raises his voice around the baby again.
Um, it gets better? Yeah, no totally, it gets better.
Oh I hear ya on the hormones and emotions one day I cried for 2 hours because I burned the last bagel and just a few weeks ago I thought I was headed for divorce court because Chris was not as interested in feeling the baby kick as I thought he should be. I'm bracing myself for the rough times ahead, but hoping for the best and enjoying the pie in bed in the mean time :)
ReplyDeleteI watched it myself a few time while I was expecting my daughter... she is now 23 years old... I think it is a very cute movie... Love night like that with Hubby...
ReplyDeleteJust A Gal
OMG, I love that movie! I think I watched it on HBO a thousand times when I was a kid (that and 9 to 5 with Dolly Parton.) I still remember the name he picked out for the boy he never ended up having..."Quimby". Haha! Is that right or is my memory failing?
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm so bummed I waited too long to sign up for your business classes! I hope you do some more as soon as you're able. Congrats on your impending arrival!

Your exactly right it's Quimby. I'm still short a boys middle name and in the midst of chery pie overload Quimby was considered for a brief moment.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I will be teaching again by May. I was sorry we could not fit more people into the class. Craft-o-Rama ran out of space.
