First day on the job...

So first of all I have been watching that show Scrubs as I unpack and I for the life of me can not figure out what all the fuss is about. It’s got the kind of dorky looking guy from Garden State. Speaking of things I could never figure out what all the fuss was about.

So I got moved into a new hotel room today. I had a sneaking suspicion that my hotel room was wrong last night. Now I am in a suite and this baby is big pimpin’. Two rooms and a fridge full of diet coke. Much better. I am all unpacked and snug as a bug in a rug. My only complaint is that I need more plugs for all my ipods, cameras, camera batteries, phones, computers etc. I’ll ask room service to bring me up and an extension cord or something tomorrow.

My day started off with me waking up throughout the night either hot or cold. The other room had only those two options on the dial. First I turned the air off, but woke up hot. Then I turned the air on and woke up freezing. I put on my track suit, found another blanket in the room and cocooned in. The new room interestingly has a thermostat. So I slept fine beyond that.

Got up and headed for the studio around 9:45. I of course got lost. I mean really lost. I ended up having to call Vickie back in Austin for directions because I did not have the numbers for the studio in my phone. Someone in Austin getting me around in Burbank makes me giggle.

When I arrived it was good to see everyone. Craft Lab has the nicest crew in the world and I am so happy to be working with everyone from the old show. I read over my scripts for next week and got the low down on the show. Then I got to watch tapes of Stylelicious (the Austin Craft Mafia show) it was so cute I am really excited. I also watched episodes of Uncommon Threads which is another new daily show for DIY that looks adorable.

Steve and Lisa took me out for my first experience at the In and Out Burger. The burger was good besides the Russian dressing, the fries suck ass. However, I was just excited to try the place.

After the studio I came back to the hotel did the big switch over then did a little shopping. I needed a few things at Target and wanted to hit Marshals and Shoe Pavilion. I was not really in the mood to shop. Prolly because I know I have to spend all day tomorrow and Saturday shopping for wardrobe for the show. I was in and out, just like the burger. I was excited to be reunited with Shoe Pavilion. All the cool Irregular Choice shoes were gone and that was disappointing. The good thing was the ones that were left were on clearance, even the little mint green flats with spider webs on them I had been dreaming about.

When I got back to the hotel I hit the bar and sat outside by the pool and drank some Harps as I talked to Chris on the phone. Every time he calls I get choked up and feel like I am going to cry. I am usually not a home sick baby, not sure what the deal is. It’s not like he has never been on tour and we have not been separated for way longer. We talked for a long time and I felt better afterwards. Everyone say a little prayer for me that we have enough minutes and that I am not getting some weird roaming charges or that really will give me something to cry about.

After our big chat I came up to the room, got a turkey sandwich from room service and unpacked. Then to come full circle here I am typing watching Scrubs still because I am too lazy to get up and change the channel.
